Actual news:

8.IX.2006
At Sept.8th 2006 we arrived to Ulaan Baatar. Naran, JT1BV meet us at airport. He arranged for us the licence JT800OK, transport to Ulaan, everything about accomodations and food, antennas, and many many others. Josef, OK1XC and Naran JT1BV are old friends (they meet for the first time 20yrs ago)..
Naran, Your daily service to us is great, thank You!

9.IX.2006
First day we installed antennas. We are guest in the JT1F appartement (3big rooms + accessories with 4 beds, excellent equiped, with 10/15/20m 3el Yagi on the flat roof and all services internet acces including). We was on the air for some times. The only limit is conditions - bands are mostly dead, propagation ist not good. Main openeing on limited time is on 20m, some low power 30m QSO and some 40m QSO to Asia, States and Europe are in the log. First 1000 CW, SSB, RTTY and PSK31QSOs is in the log. SSTV later.
The log and more details will be available later.

10.IX.2006
At sunday morning its a nice sunny day in Ulaan Baatar. We continue to working on bands. In the previous night we mainly worked on 40, 30 and 20meter. Conditions seems be the same - not too good. From EU we copy only good equiped stations.

12.IX.2006
We continue with DXing. New antenna setup is finished. Now our JT800OK log is available - You can check if You are there.

13.IX.2006
We updated many new picture  - see
JT800OK Pictures Gallery Nr.2.  Yesterday we started SSTV operation and in the log are tens of calls. Also CW, SSB, PSK31 and RTTY operation continues. Nice 80m opening to Europe at our early morning time (evevning in EU) was exploit. Afternoon we put into operation 50MHz antenna. Tomorrow morning we will look for 80m USA. Our JT800OK log is now updated - last QSO 13.9.2006 11.00UTC.

14.IX.2006
We was active on 80m and logged some EU and Asian stations. Also 30m and 40m was on air. PSK31, SSB, SSTV and CW mostly. In the early morning time we lost our PA - a big fire in the RFC caused STOP to transmit. But we are operable - Zdenek OK1CCK and Milan OK1FM dismanteled PA, dismanteled RFC, wounded new winding, fixed it. Then we must repair two 15A fuses. It means we take both fuses to part, join new wire from a piece of cable and put all together....
YES, now PA works. Only 2,5 hours out of pileup. Not bad, what you mean?

Click picture of damaged RFC and you see big photo. This problem was caused by unfaithful assembly by manufacturer. The HV cable was too long and too narrow to choke.

15.IX.2006
One problem we have since the start is software stability during transmitting. Antennas are not at big distance from our computers and HF causes big PC unstability. Very often we must interrupt pile-up and clear many fault message windows produced by N1MM and MiXW software. We excuse us when our transmitting is not rhythmical and is many times interrupted. It is sometimes hard contest with our computers...
We worked on 80m, few QSOs on 160m and many CW, SSB, RTTY, PSK31 and SSTV QSOs are in the log.

At evening visited the world known ham Chak JT1CO in his QTH abt 30km near Ulaanbaatar. It was great to see his equipment - vertical for 160 and 80m with beverages for RX and newest SteppIR for other bands. We worked short pileup on 80m from his QTH. Very fine job.
Chak JT1CO, many thanks for Your hospitality!

15.IX.2006
Today afternoon we will move for country side to Region 3 or Region 5 probably. We stay there up to Sunday, Sept. 17th. We will have two FT-857D with 100W output and two portable antennas (vertical R5 and G5RV) on the air. Look for JT800OK/3 or JT800OK/5 in next days, please. We will try all modes ofcourse.

16.IX - 17.IX..2006
At friday afternoon we moved to country side. Our JT patron Naran, JT1BV with our good friend Mend JT1CZ transport us with their cars to "Ikh Dut" very well equiped camp with beautiful gers. We order two nice gers. Without delay we establish two portable stations. Both with FT-857D and G5RV and R5 vertical. Immediately we started JT800OK/3 traffic. Some pictures from this wonderfull place (gallery Nr.3). Saturday afternooon we moved back to our base QTH in Ulaan Baatar.

At sunday we was again on the bands and we logged about 800 CW, SSB and PSK31QSOs. For lunch we was in nice Czech restaurant in Ulaan Baatar with wonderfull czech kitchen and superb czech beer. At late afternoon we was in the city for shopping some souvenirs.

19.IX.2006

will stay in UB for next 2 weeks. Good DXing, boys!
A dust and rain storm was in UB. Temperature rises under 0°Celsius. No good conditions on the bands.

20.IX - 22.IX.2006
Day and night activity on 80-15 meter CW, SSB, PSK31, RTTY and some SSTV. 12m and 10m all day and night closed, no one station there.

Nice Mongolian diploms - if interested, contact Naran, JT1BV for details, please.

23.-24.IX.2006
At Saturday and Sunday (23 and 24.Sept.) we participate in the RTTY contest. Under average condx, less than 1000 RTTY QSOs in the log. At 24.9. our first (and last up today) QSO on the 10m band (RTTY with VR2BG). Cold weather is comming to UB, ice and snow in the night and cold rain with the ice during the day. Sunday afternoon we going to the city and to museum. See our latest picture gallery Nr.4.

25.IX.2006
Czech president Vaclav Klaus comes to Ulaan Baatar. Average conditions on the bands, some hunderts QSOs in the log SSTV inclusive. White frost and icing on our antennas during the night.

25.-26.IX.2006
Lot of CW, SSB, RTTY, PSK31 QSO is in our log. WKD on 40, 30, 20, 17 m. No 15m opening.

27.IX.2006
Expedition members visited Gandam monastery. There is a lamaistic centrum with lamaistic high school in Mongolia. We got from Naran, JT1BV many competent informations. We take part in the prayer-mill ceremony. Thank You, Naran.
Then we was at Zaisan peek with beautifull look to Ulaan Baatar. After we was in Czech restaurant with outstanding czech kitchen and beer. Do You know Czech meal "moravský vrabec" and Budweiser - the excellent Czech beer?
Rest of the day we spend at home with JT800OK, for sure.

1.X.2006
After long time 15m, 12m and at last 10m  was open for short time and we worked there between 03.00UTC to 05.30UTC. The 10m opening was our 2nd opening during our 3 weeks stay in JT. Our 10m first one at Sept. 24th was very short with 1QSO only. For long hours alll HF bands are dead, with no sigs. Not easy, hard job....

2.X.2006
This is the damaged RFC - see the 14.IX.2006 report. We got from MFJ (USA) a new one. This "home made" repaired RFC worked for 2 weeks OK in our Ameritron AL-80B PA quite well. See our large wild windings. The reason is to decrease the voltage between two nearby wires.

3.IX. to 5.IX.2006
It was very difficult to work any QSO, because high wind and dusty storm was here. This caused very high static, QRN and no sigs were on the bands. Weather - snow, and cold.

6.IX.2006
This is JT800OK last day operation. During our morning time we WKD some PSK31 from States. Extremly bad conditions. Snow and cold.
We worked some QSOs. The last was at 08.23UTC with F5IUU on 20m.

JT800OK is now QRT. Thanks to everyone for contact with JT800OK.

Our web log is now complete (see above).

Buro or Direct QSL cards are welcome.

All JT800OK QSL cards will be sent not later than during December 2006.
QSL manager is Josef, OK1XC
